A Born Entrepreneur?

When I was young, I didn't dream about owning my own business. My goals were to get a good job, get married, have children and live happily ever after. That's what I thought my parents did. As I got older, I learned things don't always happen the way you plan.

My parents are still living examples of successful entrepreneurs. They taught me how life's challenges may cause you to take detours but to stay on course.

Inspiration

I will always honor and respect my parents because they instilled so many great values in me and my brothers - by their words and actions. Through the support of my parents, I do not fear challenges. My parents were both able to retire from General Motors in their 50s because they invested in real estate to become landlords. They always inspired me to work hard and plan beyond a job.

My first entrepreneur venture was Cutco Cutlery when I was a teenager. Since then I tried a variety of multi-level and direct marketing opportunities such as Amway, Primerica, and Ignite. I put a lot of effort into learning as much as I could to be successful.

In 1996 I made some business cards for my hairstylist. Other hairstylists wanted me to make their business cards but I kept resisting the opportunity since I was still working full time. But God kept sending me people to fulfill their needs. In 2000 after working for HP for 12 years, I made the decision to turn my side hustle into a full time advertising business. In addition to printing, I learned how to create websites. My resignation letter was actually the first page of my website.
